Answers

What is a minimum rate?
The minimum rate to be applied to orders of less than: 10 lines, if we are dealing with translations 2 hours (Interprets). To avoid this, try to gather your orders. Basically, it takes us the same effort and time to translate 3 or 10 lines.

How can I count the lines I have to translate?
One line = 55 characters (spaces included). If your document is a Word file, just open it, select the 'Tools' menu, then 'Count words', and note down the amount of characters (spaces included). After that, divide it by 55, and you will get the number of lines, which will be very close to the number of lines of the translated document..

How can I avoid the urgency rate?
Whenever we are asked to deliver a translation within the next 24 hours, or if you need the translation to be delivered before the normal term it requires because of its size.

Do I always need to deliver the original documents for a sworn translation?
We advise you to send us the original documents, for sworn translations quote the translation source, so as not to decrease the legal validity of the translation.

Can you keep all special formats in the translated documents?
We will, whenever the format is compatible with our computer systems and software. If you require a special format which demands an extra effort or is time consuming for the translator, we may propose a supplement (around 25%) as edition fee.

Who does the translation?
Translations are made by professional and experienced translators, natives of the target language and specialized in different subjects (law, mechanics, engineerig, computering, medicine... )

What is a sworn translator?
A sworn translator or interpreter is certified by the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores to do official translations. They are eligible to carry out these translations due to their official status.

What is the difference between simultaneous interpreting and consecutive interpreting?
Simultaneous interpreting requires all the technical equipment which allows the listeners in a conference or meeting to receive the translation at the same time as the speaker makes his or her speach. As for the consecutive translation, the speaker must stop from time to time to let the interpreter translate.

How much will be charged for transport expenses in an interpreting service?
The expenses depend on where the service will take place: how long it will take him or her to get there, and the time he or she will need for meals.

Why do you quote +/- in the estimate proposals?
This +/- 10% has to do with a possible deviation in the budget, caused by an increase or decrease of the final amount of lines in the target language, which is not always exactly the same as that in the source language.

I need an interpreter for a business meeting, but I don't know how long will this be. What shall I do if the meeting takes longer than expected?
